Cape Coral is a relatively young city with about 170,000 inhabitants in the South-West of the US state Florida. Most of the time the climate is bland and warm due to the location near the Gulf of Mexico, often including a soft wind coming from the seaside. The temperatures are normally about 30-35 degrees Celsius (85-95 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer and 25-30 degrees Celsius (75-85 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter.
Cape Coral was founded by the Rosen brothers in 1957/58. The city is crossed by many canals therefor many houses have a direct- water access (just like our house).
The Cape Coral Harbour in Southwest Cape Coral was completed in 2007. The marines have a direct acces to the Gulf of Mexico which makes a seaman’s heart beat faster. You can find wonderful shops and restaurants near the seaside with a fantastic view of the harbour and the mediterranean architecture.
There are two public beaches in Cape Coral. Both are unguarded. They are located in the „Yacht Club Community Park“ and the „Four Freedom Park“. We can recommend Fort Myers Beach for family’s with children, because the water there is shallow and without a strong current. There is also the opportunity to make a daytrip to the islands „Sanibel“ or „Captiva“ to visit the beaches.
If you are interested in playing golf, the „Palmetto-Pine Country Club“ is just a few minutes away by car. There are several other golf courses near by.
Buying groceries for every day use is possible at Walmart or other supermarkets close to our holiday house. Some of them are almost open 24/7.
If you want to buy brand- and sport clothing, we highly recommend the „Miromar Outlet“ in Estero (about 40 minute drive). It’s our personal shopping-highlight in the region. There you can find partly extraordinary designer clothes for very low prices. You can come across the brands Adidas, Calvin Klein, Converse, Fossil, GAP, Jockey, Lacoste, Levi’s, Polo Ralph Lauren, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger a.s.o. But never forget to get the special coupon-booklet at the information desk before going shopping, because you can save a lot of money for some brands again!
We would like to recommend you our favourite restaurants and hope, they can cater for all your tastes:

Restaurant Baleen im La Playa Beach & Golf Resort (Naples)
This unique restaurant is for a special occasion. The 40 minutes drive is worth it! If the weather is good, you see a marvellous sunset – almost as nice as in Key West - but you don’t have to drive as long and enjoy particularly delicious and exquisite food. Order a table before for sitting outside with a spectacular view towards the beach. Higher prices.
